The Olympic Torch

Have you heard of the Olympic torch?

The Olympic torch is a symbol of the Olympic Games. The Olympic torch ceremony started in Ancient Greece. Eleven vestal virgin women do a ceremony in the temple of Hera. The torch is lit when a beam of sunlight hits the torch using a parabolic mirror. 

The torch was reintroduced in Amsterdam summer Olympics of 1928 and the torch relay was reintroduced in the 1936 summer Olympics Berlin. The route the torch travels in a symbol of human achievement.
