Food Chains

A community is all of the animals and plants that live in a area. In a food chain all the animals and plants are linked together. The main characters are the producers and consumers. The producers are green plants. The consumers are the animals that eat the producers. The first level consumer  is a herbivore. The second level consumer is a carnivore. The third level consumers eat the second level consumers.

Then the food chain links with other  food chains to make a food web.

An example of a food chain is when a giraffe eats the leaves of a tree. Then a lion eats the giraffe. So the tree is the producer, the giraffe is the primary and the lion is the secondary consumer.

I thought learning about the food chain was engrossing!
